This page contains important information about the Forest Tree Workshop to be held at the Plant and Animal Genome XXII (PAG XXII) conference on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in San Diego.

As coordinators of the Forest Tree Workshop and deputies of IUFRO Working Party 2.04.10 -Tree Genomics, we (Jeanne Romero-Severson, Nathaniel Street, and Larry Smart), are carrying on the tradition of organizing a community-based PAG Forest Tree Workshop that provides a forum for presentation of the latest results in forest tree genomics by PIs, postdocs, and students. This will be the first year of our 3-year term as coordinators.

UPSC is organising a symposium together with a Canadian program called WOW (working on walls) in July 3-4 in Umeå.
WOW is a graduate training program between several different labs working with different aspects of cell wall formation in several different countries, and the host university of the program is the University of British Columbia (UBC).
There will be WOW graduate students and PIS coming to this symposium from UBC, Strasbourg, Japan and UPSC. In addition, we have invited three speakers to this symposium. Some of the international speakers of this symposium will be:

Carl Douglas, UBC
Daniele Werck, CNRS, Strasbourg
Maija Tenkanen, Helsinki University
Thorsten Hamann, Trondheim University

Graduate students are encouraged to participate in the poster session. Please submit the abstract also directly to Veronica Bourquin.

Deadline for registration and abstract submission is the 25th of September 2012.
There will be a travel grant of 8.000sek awarded for the best poster presented. For novel posters and UPSC Days attendance PhD students may get maximally 1 credit (discuss with your supervisor). Although we encourage you to present new posters, do not hesitate to recycle recent posters and abstracts. The aim of the posters sessions will be to get a complete overview of the activities at UPSC.

Location: All presentations, the poster session and the BBQ will take place at KBC. The presentations will be in the large lecture hall and the posters will be displayed in the 'glass room' next to the chemistry fika room and the cafeteria area. You will be able to put posters up from 9am on the Monday (29th).
Badges: Name bages will be available outside the large lecture hall prior to the first presentation. You will need the badge to be able to enjoy the free coffee breaks and lunches.
Food: Coffee breaks and lunches will be catered by Cafe Noni. Catering for the evening poster session and the social BBQ will be provided by Hansen Grill and Catering (http://www.hansencatering.se/), who make really excellent BBQ food. There will be some free alcohol provided each evening and extra will be available for purchase.
